    Judith J. Li

    Partner, Lilly Asia Ventures

    Judith Li is a Partner at Lilly Asia Ventures (LAV), based in Hong Kong / Shanghai and focused on early and growth stage investments across biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, and diagnostics both domestically and cross-border. Judith holds board appointments at a variety of LAV’s portfolio companies including Nextcure, Crown Biosciences, Just Biotherapeutics, and Veritas Genetics. 


    Her prior experience includes McKinsey’s New York office, hospital administration at Partners Healthcare, and co-founding an interventional nephrology medical device venture. 


    Judith holds a B.A. in Neurobiology from Harvard and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and currently resides in Hong Kong with her husband Ben, splitting her time between Hong Kong, Shanghai, and the Bay Area.

    Preston "Pete" W. Estep III

    Chief Scientific Officer, Veritas Genetics

    Dr. Preston Wayne Estep, III is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Veritas Genetics, a genetic testing and genome sequencing company in the Boston area. He is also the Director of Gerontology and manages genome sequencing as part of the senior management team of the Personal Genome Project at Harvard Medical School.


    Dr. Estep is a co-founder and adviser to multiple startup companies and non-profit organizations. He is Chairman of the Mind First Foundation, which he co-founded with thought leaders at Harvard Medical School and in the healthcare industry. The foundation is dedicated to scientific mind research and the development of better diagnoses and therapies for brain disorders.


    Dr. Estep is the Author of the recently published book The Mindspan Diet, which  draws on evidence from all relevant fields to show how everyday foods are potent regulators of physical and mental longevity.


    Dr. Estep received his Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University and his B.S. in Biology from Cornell University. lives with his wife in the Boston area. 

    Manish Kothari

    President, SRI Ventures​

    Manish Kothari, Ph.D., is president of SRI Ventures and is a vice president of SRI International, a nonprofit research and innovation center that, among other things, invented the mouse and spawned companies such as Siri and Intuitive Surgical.


    In this role, Manish leads the creation of high-value venture opportunities and is intimately involved in the venture creation process from concept through market development, team building, technology transition, seed funding, partner and investor identification, and launch.


    Manish joined SRI in 2013 as a business development consultant and entrepreneur-in-residence. He became a Program Director of Robotics and Healthcare Automation in 2013, where he successfully focused on spinning off and licensing a number of technologies in the robotics and healthcare area.


    Prior to joining SRI, Manish co-founded and was CEO of Mytrus, which offers cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) platform for direct-to-participant clinical trials. Earlier, he was vice president of R&D quality and operations for Simpirica Spine. There, he successfully built a spinal implant for lower back pain and spondylolisthesis. Kothari also held a series of executive roles at Synarc, a global clinical trials medical imaging start-up company.


    He holds multiple patents and is the author or co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.


    Manish received his M.S. degree and Ph.D. in biomechanical engineering from Cornell University, and was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. His bachelor of technology degree in aerospace engineering is from the Indian Institute of Technology.


    He is passionate about the intersection of technology and humanity and health, and how that intersection transforms our world and also transforms all of us.

    Matthew Kenney

    Founder, Matthew Kenney Culinary Academy

    Matthew Kenney is the world’s leading plant-based chef, the writer of several best-selling cookbooks, a culinary educator, and an entrepreneur specializing in the plant-based lifestyle.


    Matthew Kenney graduated from the French Culinary Institute and, after working in upscale New York City kitchens, opened a number of his own highly regarded restaurants in New York and along the East Coast. He has earned several awards, including being named one of America’s Best New Chefs by Food and Wine Magazine and was twice nominated as a Rising Star Chef in America by the James Beard Foundation. Kenney has appeared on numerous food and talk shows, and regularly lectures on the subject of food and health, including a highly watched TEDx talk in 2011.


    Having grown up on the coast of Maine and being an avid outdoorsman, Kenney’s success lies within his innate understanding of seasonal and local ingredients, his classical training and extensive travel background. As a raw food chef, Kenney’s application of contemporary methods and techniques along with a firm commitment to innovative recipes and food aesthetics is leading plant-based cuisine to the mainstream.


    In 2009, Kenney founded the world’s first classically structured raw food culinary academy. Matthew Kenney Academy has graduated students from over 30 countries. Along with operating his namesake academy and restaurant brand, Kenney is involved in raw food chef and plant-based projects around the world, and travels extensively to forward his mission to show others that food can be delicious and vibrant, while still healthful.     Kenney operates culinary academies in Venice, CA, Belfast, ME, Miami, FL, and in Hua Hia, Thailand; it is the first classically-structured culinary academy in Asia. The brand includes restaurants The Gothic, California raw cafe MAKE OUT and Plant Food + Wine with locations in Los Angeles and Miami. In early 2016 Kenney will open plant-based pizza concept 00+Co, in New York City’s East Village.

    Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni​

    Chairman and CEO, NKGB Strategic Advisory​

    Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni is the chairman and CEO of NKGB Strategic Advisory, specializing in venture capital, private equity, M&A, technology, plant-based economy and impact investing. NKGB’s main focus is on investments originating in Asia and the Middle East.

    He is also the founder and chairman of Opteres, the most exclusive network of fine art collectors in the world. He advises private clients as well as banks and public institutions about fine art, and conducts private sales of rare masterpieces through Opteres. He is the co-author of a book about Joan Miró, published in 2014.

    Sebastiano is the owner and chairman of one of the most renowned and pioneering wineries in Europe, Querciabella, organic since 1988 and biodynamic since 2000. His Tuscan wines have garnered worldwide acclaim, including “Best Italian Wine” in 2004.

    In July 2014, he was appointed by the Italian Prime Minister – Mr Matteo Renzi – to the post of Advisor to the Minister and Foreign Direct Investment Senior Advisor with the Ministry of Economic Development. He served the Country in this role until May 2016.

    Sebastiano is a partner and Honorary Chairman of WeRisk, a prominent boutique firm led by Carlo Muzzarelli, offering consulting and training services to major Italian and international corporations.

    He is a passionate designer, having worked in the field of graphic and publication design in his twenties, and continues to occasionally design furniture, jewellery and tableware. His other interests include agriculture, food and wine. A fanatic of Renaissance and Baroque music, he is due to launch his own classical music label in early 2017.

    Sebastiano has been a vegetarian and an animal rights activist for thirty-five years. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He is a partner of Matthew Kenney Cuisine, and serves as advisor to Lighter.

    He divides his time between Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the US.                                                                                     

    William Christopher Kerr

    Partner at New Crop Capital​

    Mr. William Christopher Kerr, also known as Chris is the Investment Manager at New Crop Capital. As partner of NCC, Chris manages deal flow, and performs asset and market level analyses. Chris serves as director at MIXONIUM Group Holdings Inc., Pitcairn Financial Group, and Anark Corporation. He serves as a Managing Partner at Abele Kerr Investments. He is a Principal at the Hendricks Door Company. He is a business developer and private investor specializing in early-stage and start-up ventures.


    Chris’s expertise has led to the creation and development of Inc. 500 companies as well as philanthropic initiatives in the not-for-profit community. He is the Chief Executive Officer at Consular, LLC. Chris is also the Co-Founder and President at SteriLogic Corporation.


    Prior to SteriLogic, from 1988 to 1995 he was the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Gurney Kerr. He is a Director of Pitcairn Financial Group, Anark Corporation, and Humane USA. He has more than two decades of leadership experience in financial and venture capital management.


    Chris received his B.S. in Management from Babson College majoring in entrepreneurial studies with emphasis in Economics and Finance.              

    David Yeung

    CEO and co-founder of Green Monday

    David Yeung is a noted environmental advocate and founder of Green Monday, an innovative social venture that takes on on climate change, food insecurity, health issues and animal welfare with a diverse platform that shifts individuals, communities, and corporations towards sustainable, healthy, and mindful living.


    Under Green Monday Mr. Yeung launched Green Common – the world’s first plant-based green living destination – to introduce a revolutionary food and lifestyle experience. The movement of Green Monday has now spread to over 10 countries, with 1.6 million people practicing Green Monday at its Hong Kong origin.


    Awards and recognitions won by Green Monday and Mr. Yeung include “50 Most Innovative Companies,” “100 Most Creative People in China,” “Asia 100 Pioneers”, “Ten Outstanding Young Persons Hong Kong”, “Best Idea of the Year.” He is also the author of a number of best-selling books on Zen wisdom and mindfulness. Mr. Yeung is a graduate of Columbia University and a Director of Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute (SIYLI), Hong Kong AIDS Foundation and Hong Kong Buddhist Association.

    Mirza Cifric

    Founder and CEO, Veritas Genetics

    Mirza Cifric is a serial life science entrepreneur and founder and CEO of Veritas Genetics. Previously, he was CEO of AbVitro Inc. which he founded together with Dr. George Church of Harvard Medical School based on technology developed at the Church lab.


    He also served as CEO of Solmap Pharma, wich was sold to FORMA Therapeutics in 2008. While at FORMA, he was Head of Corporate Development for the international oncology leader with offices in US and Singapore.


    Veritas is a global pioneer dedicated to the idea that knowledge of genomic information can lead to disease prevention, ultimately maximizing the human longevity. Veritas is based in US (Boston), Europe (Luxembourg) and Asia (Shanghai).


    Snehal Patel

    Managing Director, Saena Partners

    Snehal Patel is a Managing Director of Saena Partners, a Singapore-based investment company. He also co-founder of MyDoc and is responsible for business strategy and execution. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President at Chandler Corporation, a multi-billion dollar investment fund based in Singapore. In this role, he founded and led the investment team responsible for investing in healthcare businesses in South and Southeast Asia. His responsibilities included leading the on-the ground incubation and early growth of a regional healthcare chain, as well as serving on the boards of several early-stage healthcare and education businesses throughout the region.

    Prior to moving to Singapore in 2008, Dr. Patel practiced law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP in New York. He received an MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and a JD from Columbia Law School. Upon graduation, he served as a Clinical Fellow at the Harvard Medical School, and was offered a Fulbright scholarship to study the differences between the Singaporean and US healthcare systems. Dr. Patel was a featured speaker at the 2011 Milken Global Conference and is a member of the Society of Kauffman Fellows.


    Melissa Gecolea

    Principal Producer, TVB Pearl

    Melissa Gecolea has worked as a broadcast journalist in the Philippines, Hong Kong and London covering politics, technology, and business.


    She started as a TV presenter and daily news reporter covering defense, and later as a producer for the award winning investigative show ‘Assignment’ on the Philippine’s top network ABS-CBN. Since then Melissa has worked as producer and host for various shows in London and Hong Kong covering the telecoms industry, politics, technology and business. From 2011 she worked on several shows at ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) including the science and technology show ‘Future Perfect’ as executive producer, as well as co-host and producer of the award-winning personal finance show ‘On the Money’ from 2012 to 2014 before moving to Hong Kong. She currently works as Principal Producer for the weekly business show ‘Money Magazine’ aired on TVB Pearl Fridays at 8pm.

    Jaganath "CJ" Swamy

    Founder & CEO Good Parents Inc.

    CJ is the founder and CEO of Good Parents, developing Kiddo, the world's first health and wellness focused wearable for young kids (3-10 year olds). It tracks key biometrics to provide parents with real time health, wellness, stress and development insights into their children.


    Prior to founding Good Parents, CJ was a Vice President at HarbourVest where he was responsible for India and SE Asia investments across direct co-investments, fund of funds and secondaries. Active involvement in regional Asia funds and China venture capital.


    Prior to HarbourVest, CJ was a principal at Northgate Capital in Delhi, where he had overall responsibility for developing and growing Indian fund investments and was co-lead for South East Asia investments.


    Prior to that, Jaganath was a Founding Director of Ananta Capital, co-founding a specialized acquisition vehicle in the specialty and advanced materials space in India and led fundraising, negotiating with potential acquisition targets, and developing post-investment strategy.


    Prior to graduate school, he was a business analyst and junior associate at Mckinsey and Company in Mumbai and Singapore, focused on private equity and M&A projects, including the evaluation, due diligence, and monitoring of Indian partnerships. He was also a team leader at Evalueserve Inc. in India, co-leading the financial services and investment advisory division to provide strategic financial research, private equity due diligence, and deal advisory services to clients in the U.S. and Europe.


    CJ received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in finance and private equity and his B.Tech, Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.


    Steve Monaghan

    Regional Director, Head of Edge AIA​

    Steve Monaghan is Regional Director, Head of Edge AIA accountable for AIA’s group innovation agenda, a Limited Partner in True Global Ventures focused on Fintech, a board member of Proximiti and a private investor in AI, Life Sciences, HealthTech and Fintech.

    Originally a commercial pilot, Steve has held a number of senior corporate and banking roles in product, marketing, operations and general management. He has worked for leading corporations and financial institutions including Dell, Compaq, Citigroup, OCBC, Shinsei and DBS Bank. Throughout his career, Steve has specialized in introducing new business models, businesses and products in all major markets in Asia and has filed 6 patents.

    Steve was on the startup team for Dell Computer, introducing Dell’s consumer business to Asia. Later he developed and executed the branded manufacturing and retail model catapulting Compaq to number one in the Indian consumer market. In banking Steve developed and patented the first mobile payments platform for Citigroup, developed a Consumer Finance Division for OCBC and led the retail bank turnaround of Shinsei Bank in Japan. As Chief Innovation Officer for DBS Bank, Steve drove the innovation agenda focused on Intelligence, Big Data and Social culminating in the $220+M investment of DBS in IBM Watson, DBS A*Star R&D Lab and Digital Banking.

    Steve holds an EMBA with ‘first in class academic standing’ from the Helsinki School of Economics and has attended senior leadership courses at IMD and Wharton.
